Clinical Research and Database Program Associate

Basic Functions
This position is responsible for clinical research and data collection projects and programs of the ASPS and the PSEF. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day business, administrative and technical components of the organization's a web-based clinical outcome program known as Tracking Operations & Outcomes for Plastic Surgeons (TOPSSM), overseeing the development and implementation of Society and membership initiated projects that use the TOPS platform, and coordinating the activities and projects of the Clinical Trials Network Committee.
Position Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred in a health or life sciences field, healthcare administration, or combination of education and related experience.
Experience
- Three to five years managing / administering clinical registry or outcome database
- Three to five years project management experience
- Experience working with end users, vendors, and cross-functional teams
- Competence with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to appropriately interact at various levels, from junior staff through senior management, within the organization, and as well with physician volunteers in a member-service environment
- Ability to work proactively
- Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge and experience in data analysis, reporting and analytic software
- Experience in health/medical association management or health care environment a plus
- Experience with database software, report writing, and/or database conversions a plus

Essential Duties
Manages all day-to-day operations of the TOPS program including:
- coordinate all phases of the project plan for the legacy system while adhering to milestones and deliverables and budget associated with the new TOPS 2 system.
- acts as the staff TOPS liaison for vendors, TOPS participants, physician volunteers and internal departments
- provide ongoing project manament by reviewing work product (data reports, specs, system performance), monitoring vendor performance and budget parameters
- work with staff, committees and vendors to ensure that projects and deliverables are completed within budget and on time
- utilize data analysis tool and statisitcal analysis software, prepare and distribute informational reports to support the organization’s advocacy, media relations and health services and market research activities
- perform analysis of the TOPS database for internal and external audiuences
- work with participants to identify desired report formats and data fields
- oversee TOPS participant support
- provide ongoing training to new participants
- Serve as staff liasion to the TOPS Workgroup/committee
Work with Vice-President, Research and Development to:
- develop, maintain and update TOPS program policies and procedures
- develop and implement TOPS program evaluation tools for use with users and non-users
- identify and implement opportunities and methods to grow TOPS participation
Manage clinical research and database analysis projects
- responsible for the management of Society initiated clinical data collection projects
- faciliate the development of Society initiated data collection projects (i.e., study design, CRF development, site selction and recruitment, IRB assistance, study enrollment, and data analysis and reporting
- work with staff and physician leadership to enhance a national clinical trials network for Plastic Surgery health services research
- serve as staff liasion to the Clinical Research Trials Network Committee
