Senior Manager of Quality & Health Policy
Diedra Gray is the senior manager of quality and health policy, responsible for overseeing projects aimed at emphasizing ASPS’ commitment to improving the quality of care for plastic surgery patients, as well as the Society’s participation in national discussions on coding, payment and health policy issues.
Diedra coordinates the development and dissemination of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines, Performance Measures and Guiding Principles. Under her leadership, ASPS is increasing participation in quality initiatives, including the “Choosing Wisely” campaign, an ABIM Foundation initiative focusing on the appropriate use of tests and procedures.
Diedra has been instrumental in developing ASPS responses to documents developed by large regulatory bodies, impacting quality and payment. She also serves as the Society representative to many external quality and health policy organizations.
Diedra also coordinates the organization’s Evidence Based Medicine initiative through the monthly critical appraisal of articles published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, in addition to articles used in the development of other ASPS quality products. She is also active on several ASPS committees: Quality and Performance Measurement, Coding and Payment Policy, Health Policy and Patient Safety.
Diedra came to ASPS from the American Medical Association where she managed measure development projects in clinical topic areas, including kidney disease and perioperative care, among others. While at the American Academy of Dermatology she coordinated the development of evidence-based guidelines and developed performance measures to improve quality of care and clinical outcomes in dermatology.
Outside of ASPS, Diedra and her family await football season each year as a chance to root for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
