Director of Online Learning
John Everson is the director of online learning for ASPS, responsible for developing and managing the Plastic Surgery Education Network (PSEN), a web-based platform with accompanying iPad and iPhone apps that delivers online learning programs to plastic surgeons from residency to retirement. He also develops and oversees PSEN’s original monthly HD video program Surgery Spotlight.
John recently celebrated 20 years at ASPS and has made major contributions to the Society’s publications and web services during his tenure. He joined ASPS as the news publications manager before becoming publications director shortly thereafter. As publications director, he oversaw the writing, editing and designing of Plastic Surgery News, as well as the business operations of the Society’s medical journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. John and his teams have worked on numerous member publications and products including the Annual Report to members, Informed Consent book, Pearls of Practice trade paperback series and USA Today special sections on plastic surgery. He also worked with the original team that launched plasticsurgery.org and subsequently took the site through three redesigns before moving on to build and launch the WebGOLD custom website development program for members.
John previously served as a reporter and editor for several Chicago publications with an emphasis on media and music. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and lives with this wife and son in Naperville, Ill. He enjoys writing fiction and is a broad-minded music buff who thinks Ke$ha is just as cool as The Cure.
