Staff Mission Statement

As a professional team, the ASPS staff is dedicated to working in concert with elected officers and volunteers, providing leadership and continuity, and addressing the educational and professional needs of Members and affiliates.

Our goal is to encourage individual initiative and development and improve the quality and integrity of the organization.

ASPS Guiding Values

Communication:

Strives to keep communication channels open and keeps all parties informed of developments. Communicates effectively across departmental lines. Expresses ideas effectively in written and oral form. Prepares for, facilitates and contributes in meetings whether with Members, vendors or other employees. Expresses ideas clearly and directly.

Customer Satisfaction:

Builds strong internal and external customer relationships. Provides solutions to customer needs. Gives high priority to achieving internal and external customer satisfaction. Uses tact and diplomacy to deal effectively with others. Takes actions that meet or exceed customer expectations.

Optimism:

Expects the best possible outcome for situations. Persists. Is proactive and engages change rather than defending against it. Handles disappointment and rejection while maintaining effectiveness. Focuses on solutions versus dwelling on problems. Generates alternatives when faced with adversity.

Results Orientation:

Adopts a strong orientation toward achievement. Holds high expectations for self and others to achieve at high levels. Thinks strategically about task requirements while balancing quality, quantity, timeliness and use of resources. Eliminates barriers to high achievement.

Teamwork:

Works effectively with work groups for those outside formal line of authority to accomplish goals; takes actions that respect the needs and contributions of others; volunteers ideas and help; shares information freely; builds on others’ ideas; contributes to and supports group decisions; puts team goals ahead of personal or individual goals.

Treating Others with Dignity and Respect:

Maintains or enhances the self-esteem of others. Is courteous and polite. Does not gossip, talk behind other people’s backs or spread rumors. Builds strong working relationships. Listens to and acknowledges others.
