Plastic Surgeons Warn of Malnutrition in Body Contouring Patients
Identifying malnutrition before surgery in massive weight loss patients seeking body contouring will significantly decrease surgical complications, accelerate wound healing, improve scar quality and boost patient energy levels, according to a study in the December issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Practice Philosophy
Cosmetic surgery should improve one's appearance, without creating an obvious "surgical" look. Therefore, my goal is to provide cosmetic surgery procedures with this philosophy in mind. I truly believe in open and honest Doctor-Patient relations, and my practice philosophy can be summarized into: Safety, honesty, state-of-the-art technology, and compassion. Patients should primarily feel comfortable with and have confidence in their doctor, and they should feel that they have received the best treatment possible. It is my philosophy to create that level of trust.

Consultations
We believe that the consultation begins with the prospective patient's first phone call to obtain information or to set up an appointment. From that very moment we provide as much information as possible in a pleasant and friendly manner. We want our patients to feel as members of our extended family. We want them to feel comfortable to ask questions, make comments, and to contact us as many times as possible to express any form of concern. During the initial consultation, which usually lasts for 30 - 45 minutes, we discuss all issues regarding the specific procedure that the patient is interested in. the initial consultation is with Dr. Abrams himself. If there is need for consulting with other disciplines such as skin care, dermatology, weight management, this is also discussed with the patient. After all information is provided and the patient is allowed to ask any further questions he/she may have, then they are usually given brochures and pamphlets to study at home, they are asked to review the information with their spouse, friend, or parents, and return or call as many times as they like for further consultation or to ask further questions. once it is certain that the patient is prepared for surgery, has realistic expectations, and all of his/her questions have been answered, then surgery is scheduled.
