"It is my practice philosophy that I do not convince the person to have surgery. They have already done that in their decision to seek a consultation. I believe I should review the possibilities and treatment options as well as the risks and benefits. I want the patient to have realistic expectations of their results" states Dr. Burden.
"My goal", Dr. Burden explains "is to have patients as knowledgeable as possible about the procedure, how to prepare themselves for it, what happens during and after surgery, how to take care of themselves afterwards. I have tried to inform them in ways that will prevent surprises."
