Plastic Surgeons Warn of Malnutrition in Body Contouring Patients
Identifying malnutrition before surgery in massive weight loss patients seeking body contouring will significantly decrease surgical complications, accelerate wound healing, improve scar quality and boost patient energy levels, according to a study in the December issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Practice Philosophy

Plastic surgery is an area of modern medicine that seeks to improve the quality of life. Sometimes this is through restoration of function, such as correction of an injury; sometimes it is by improvement in happiness and self-confidence, such as cosmetic surgery. In either case, it should be provided with the same degree of compassion and expertise as with the treatment of a serious illness.

Likewise, plastic surgery should not be considered frivolous, nor patients made to feel guilty or self-indulgent.

We also believe that plastic surgery should be reasonably affordable and dignified, not subject to the advertising hype of the marketplace.

The purpose of this website is to introduce you to our office, since we realize patients must feel confident with their care providers.

Background:

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Minnesota, then came to California for college.  While completing his medical education, he also served in the California Army National Guard.  In 1977 he came to Roseville and was the first plastic surgeon in Placer County.  He is a past president of the Placer/Nevada County Medical Society.

During thirty years of practice, he has accumulated much experience as well as maintaining education in new techniques.  He will give you his best as he has with nearly 12,000 patients already.

Consultations

Consultations are, honest, ethical and confidential. For your first visit, we will ask you to complete a medical history and registration. Our goal will then be to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about the suitability of plastic surgery for you. Choices will be described, questions answered and fees explained.  More than one consultation may be necessary.  A second pre-operative visit is standard.

We understand that these procedures are elective, and we will do our best to reduce anxiety and embarrassment. (For your benefit we ask that children not be brought along since their presence is too distracting.)
