Plastic Surgeons Warn of Malnutrition in Body Contouring Patients
Identifying malnutrition before surgery in massive weight loss patients seeking body contouring will significantly decrease surgical complications, accelerate wound healing, improve scar quality and boost patient energy levels, according to a study in the December issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Practice Philosophy
Patient satisfaction and safety are very important to me. I offer a complimentary consultation for the first visit. I want patients to be fully informed when choosing their cosmetic surgery options and it is important they trust and have confidence in me as their surgeon. I encourage a close family member or significant other to accompany the patient to the initial consultation.I perform all cosmetic surgery procedures in the safety of a hospital, in the out patient department, so the patients return home the same day as the surgery.

Consultations
The Clinical Coordinator first welcomes new patients to our office and assists Dr. Hynes in helping the patient become relaxed and fully informed. She gives printed information about Dr. Hynes, his specialized training and Board Certification, and his years of experience. She will also give the patient printed information about all the services available in the office including microdermabrasion, BOTOX, laser hair removal, vascular laser treatments, and medical skincare products. She asks the patient what cosmetic surgery they are considering. The Clinical Coordinator will give the patient professional brochures about the specific cosmetic surgeries and also show them some photo albums of " before and after " photos of some of Dr. Hynes' former patients. This all helps prepare the patient for the questions he or she may want to ask Dr. Hynes during the personal consultation. During the meeting with Dr. Hynes, the patient can ask about the cosmetic surgeries she/he has considered. Dr. Hynes will honestly and frankly answer all questions to help the patient understand which cosmetic procedures will be best for them and for the outcome they want. Specific surgical techniques will be discussed, as well as surgical time and recovery time required. Dr. Hynes will also do a complete medical history and physical. The Clinical Coordinator will again meet with the patient to discuss fees, payment options, surgery dates available, and any preparation needed before surgery. Sometimes combining cosmetic surgery procedures may reduce the overall cost of the surgeries. If requested, Dr. Hynes will meet for a 2nd consultation with the patient prior to the scheduled surgery.
