Tom S. Liu, MD, MBA, is an ASPS Member plastic surgeon who is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and trained specifically in plastic surgery. Meet Dr. Tom Liu
Plastic surgeon Dr. Tom Liu is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and serves the Sacramento and San Jose areas. He takes pride in creating personalized, natural-looking results for each of his patients. Dr. Liu believes cosmetic procedures are intended to help preserve a more youthful appearance, rather than transform the way a person looks, so he utilizes his skill and experience to create outcomes that complement his patients’ natural beauty. Dr. Liu performs a multitude of surgical and non-surgical procedures at Liu Plastic Surgery, including breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, eyelid surgery, mommy makeover, BOTOX® Cosmetic, CoolSculpting®, and more.
Dr. Liu is considered an expert in his field, and is among the few surgeons in the country selected to serve on the advisory board for several respected medical aesthetics companies. Through his extensive research, Dr. Liu has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and chapters—some of which have been featured or quoted by the New York Times and NBC—and has been invited to share his expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery as a speaker and lecturer.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University, Dr. Liu went on to continue his education at the renowned University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the Booth School of Business. Through a selective 5-year program, Dr. Liu simultaneously earned his MD and MBA. He graduated from the University of Chicago with Honors and was selected to be part of the highly competitive combined general surgery-plastic surgery program at the prestigious UCLA Medical Center (only one position is available per year). In addition to his training at UCLA, Dr. Liu completed an extra year of sub-specialty training in both aesthetic surgery and advanced microsurgery, via a fellowship at the Plastic Surgery Institute in San Francisco.

I had no idea what to expect, and was pretty nervous, but the whole process was not even painful and it went by super fast. I spent a little time looking up what type of shape and filler I wanted, and communicated to Dr. Liu and showed him some reference pictures. He knew exactly what I was going for and gave me my desired results. He checked in with me throughout the procedure to make sure I liked his work, and asked for my feedback, and adjusted accordingly. Before the procedure, he was honest and realistic and let me know that everyone metabolizes the injections differently, so mine may not last very long, which I appreciated as I like to be realistically informed. Dr. Liu and Jessica were also super amazing and nice throughout my first experience with lip injections, and Jessica made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process by making sure I was relaxed. I would recommend this place to my friends. This is day 2 of the injections and I had a painless healing procedure. Thank you!! Attached are before and after pics on day 2. Update: (August 2018) below are pictures taken last month and a week ago. (Cropped face pics) my lips are still pretty plump and also really smooth. I think the juvaderm ultra has helped with retaining moisture in my lips, so it's honestly a god send because I've never had smooth lips ever. I used to have a chapstick addiction. I can also wear all day lip wear and not worry about the formula chapping my lips now! Still super happy with the results.

She was really nice on the phone, and accommodating to my questions and concerns. Dr. Liu was nice, and attentive! He answered all of my questions thoroughly since I did a lot of research on lip injections. After the procedure he told me to take arnica which helps with the after swelling, and bruising! I'm glad he told me that because it has definitely helped a lot and it's day two now, and I see no bruises on my lips besides a minuscule dark spot. I recommend Dr. Liu for any filler needs!!!!
