Reasons for surgery

Life style. Large breasts made the daily physical sports that I engaged in quite difficult. My breast size was disproportionate to body size/frame and I felt very uncomfortable.

Impressions of Surgical Process

I was anxious to have the surgery as I had wanted it for over 4 years before being "okayed" by the insurance company. From the day the insurance came through to the actual surgery date was like an eternity - about 6 weeks! My only concern regarding the surgery is that it is a major, traumatic procedure that is too much to be categorized as a "day-patient" "in-and -out" surgery only. I think all patients should be required to spend the night.

Outcome

My left side healed much "cleaner" than the right did. The scarring on the right under portion of the breast is discolored, raised and rough where as the left side looks almost perfect - the scarring is so slight that only if you knew I had surgery would you be able to tell - by staring - that there is a scar. My right side looks like a series of cigarette burns.

Impression

Even though the scarring is apparent and ugly on my right side, I do not wish for my 34Ds back! I fit into a 34A now and I love it! It is easier when running, swimming, playing basketball and horseback riding. It feels great to be able to wear anything I want - or nothing at all for that matter! The scarring on the right side is unsightly, but I was, and continue to be happy to pay that sort of price for being able to live the lifestyle that I desire!
