Membership Associate, International

This position in the ASPS Membership Department requires a self-disciplined, flexible/adaptable, service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal and multicultural skills to assist with international membership recruitment, retention and engagement strategies – with some overlap into related domestic membership programs. Working in conjunction with the International Relations Project Manager, this role requires strong organizational skills, an eye for detail and an interest and acumen in international business. Duties include logistical planning and execution of activities designed to expand and enrich international membership initiatives with an emphasis on residents and young plastic surgeons. The position provides support to membership programs, participates in meetings with international partner (and prospective) societies and facilitates the application process for all membership categories with direct responsibility for international markets. The role also requires collaboration with multiple departments, specifically the Member Services Center (MSC), Corporate Development, Marketing, Business Technology, Education, Executive and Meetings staff.

What You Will Do

Work with the Membership leadership and in collaboration with the Marketing Department to plan and implement recruitment and promotional campaigns to increase membership and member retention for international plastic surgeons, young plastic surgeons, fellows and residents/trainees and other membership types.

  • Aid committee liaison to International Scholars, iYPS (International Young Plastic Surgeons), SHARE/Volunteers in Plastic Surgery, International Subcommittee, International Visiting Professors, IAPSA and upcoming membership initiatives and committees
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit international residents; Coordinate resident engagement and cultivate relationships to facilitate transition from resident to international candidate for membership when appropriate
  • Work closely with MSC on membership processes and data quality projects, including development of special views in database (Aptify)
  • Manage booth space at meetings/conferences including international and domestic conferences, such as Plastic Surgery The Meeting; Prepare and implement pre-event marketing to increase visibility and attendance; Work with external departments and partners to ensure marketing goals are met
  • Update/review web content for membership-related pages on, working closely with Communications on design and production
  • Collaborate with Marketing team on design and production of the international membership marketing collateral such as membership kit, residents kit, resident mailings, ASPS special offerings and ASPS booth display and booth materials
  • Create and coordinate ongoing social media campaigns within targeted member segments for recruitment and member engagement
  • Administer and develop member needs assessments (surveys)
  • This position requires domestic and international travel approximately 5-6 times per year
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, international relations or related field preferred; Foreign language skills are highly desirable
  • 3-5 years working with members and a nonprofit organization; International experience is strongly desired
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and project teams
  • Goal-oriented team player and effective, friendly collaborator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and working knowledge of Aptify (database) and Marketo (email marketing system) a plus
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines
  • Solid project management skills and proficiency in project management software (such as Asana)
  • Foreign language skills and multicultural background
