Director of Public Relations
Amy Hughes is the director of public relations at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). She is responsible for the strategic planning, crafting and execution of all patient education and public relations initiatives at ASPS, and the Society's award-winning scientific and socioeconomic publications, including the specialty's top-ranked journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS). She regularly collaborates with The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF) and is the staff liaison to the Patient Education Committee.
Amy leads a team of professional practitioners focused on building and implementing all aspects of ASPS' integrated communications plan, including the aforementioned public and media relations, content, website development, social media and video communications.
Bringing over twenty years of experience to her role at ASPS, she most recently served as the creative and communications director of a Wyoming-based marketing and PR agency serving healthcare, prevention management, government and public health organizations. During her tenure, she successfully executed award-winning campaigns focused on all aspects of patient care and pandemic communications.
A summa cum laude graduate from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Amy is currently a candidate for an MBA (Marketing) via the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and several other professional organizations.
