Carol L. Lazier
Staff Vice President for International Relations & Chief Membership Officer
Carol L. Lazier is the vice president of international relations and chief membership officer, responsible for the management and development of the Society's membership recruitment and retention strategies, with a special focus on international membership growth.
In this role, Carol increases ASPS's global presence by managing relationships with national and international plastic surgery organizations and develops new ways to adapt the Society's domestic programs and products for international markets.
This year, Carol will celebrate 37 years at ASPS. During her tenure, she has held numerous senior management positions and has made major contributions to the Society in the areas of meetings management, governance and specialty relations, and membership services.
Early in her career at ASPS, Carol was promoted to director of meetings, where she made significant enhancements to the ASPS annual meeting, growing it from a hotel-based meeting of 1,500 people to a convention hosted meeting of more than 6,000 attendees. Thereafter, she moved into leadership positions within ASPS's member services area, eventually taking over responsibility for all of the Society's member services, including meetings, governance and international relations.
She also served on an interim management team comprised of six senior staff members responsible for all organizational operations.
Carol attended Truman College in Kirksville, Mo., and holds a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).
Carol has presented on the topics of leadership development and meetings management at numerous conventions for the association industry.
A Chicago native, Carol resides in Arlington Heights, Ill., and enjoys spending time with her son. She is an avid reader and likes gardening and biking.
