White House, States Ask ASPS Members to Help Meet National COVID-19 Needs
We Need Your Help

On March 20, 2020, in response to your inquiries, we sent you an email about the clearinghouse that ASPS is creating to help our members make available their PPE, supplies and equipment during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the next 24 hours, the White House was in direct contact with ASPS leadership to expand the scope of our clearinghouse and potentially facilitate distribution of supplies and equipment nationwide by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). [Note: In the ensuing days, ASPS has also been working with state and city governments to further these efforts.]

Delineating the location of ventilators outside of hospitals is the first urgent need. Hospitals are already facing ventilator shortages and ventilator manufacturing will not meet this need in time.

The White House's COVID-19 Task Force and FEMA plan to route available ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals or other temporary medical facilities in need. The members or contacts listed will be contacted by FEMA to coordinate.

Although we recognize that you contribute in order to do your part for this pandemic, the White House wants to assure those who contribute that they will be offered appropriate compensation for this much-needed equipment.

The White House expresses its extreme appreciation for this concerted effort by plastic surgeons. Please join me in making a difference. I have been inspired by the number of plastic surgeons who have expressed their desire to help during this crisis. This is an opportunity as a Society to potentially save lives across the country during this pandemic.

This is urgent, and the need is now. Please fill out the contribution form as soon as possible. Feel free to pass this link to others including non-plastic surgeons. Thank you!
