Participate in MIPS

Advancing Care Information Performance Category

As with Meaningful Use before it, successful participation in the MIPS ACI Performance Category requires use of Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT). In the first two boxes below, you can find the Advancing Care Information Measures you will need to report if you already have CEHRT in place.

Search Your EHRs Certification Status

If you are not already using CEHRT, you will need to get it in order satisfy the ACI Category. As you know, finding, evaluating, purchasing and implementing an EHR system is incredibly complex and even more expensive. ASPS has produced and identified resources that will help you navigate that process.

At least one permissible prescription written by the MIPS eligible clinician is queried for a drug formulary and transmitted electronically using certified EHR technology.

Technical Assistance for CEHRT Implementation

In year one of MIPS, you can avoid a payment penalty even if you don’t have Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) or report on ACI measures. In subsequent years, though, your MIPS final score will be compared to providers who are reporting on all MIPS performance categories, and successfully utilizing CEHRT will be critical to ensuring you earn a payment bonus.

An EHR certified under the 2015 edition of CEHRT will be necessary to participate in the Advancing Care Information Performance Category. Included below are a series of resources that will be of use as you identify, evaluate and implement new CEHRT into your practice. They walk you through the steps of planning and implementation, which include assessing your practice’s readiness and approach to selecting an EHR, selecting the appropriate EHR for your practice environment, as well as the logistics of bringing your EHR into your practice, from training through quality improvement.

Financial Assistance for CEHRT Implementation

Purchasing and implementing CEHRT is an expensive proposition. There are resources available to assist with budgeting for CEHRT and a several avenues to explore for funding.
