Patient Testimonials

Thank You!!!! Thank You!!!! Thank You!!!! Thank you!!!!! About 1 month ago, I had a complete Mommy Makeover with the team at VA, and I can only say that I wish I had done this YEARS ago! I had 360 lipo, tummy tuck, and a breast lift. They are the absolute best at what they do. They don't bad-mouth other offices. They know what they can do, and they do it better (and at a way better price) than anywhere else.
Awesome Procedure I had mini tuck and liposuction in the Dallas location by Dr Ver halen. Best doc ever. He and his Wife are awesome. I'm only 3 weeks but my incision is great. You won't even notice there is a cut. Am very sore tho from the lipo but anytime I call his wife she is always ready for me to be seen. They will be with you through thick and thin. I will recommend this people 1000%. I love their Colleyville location better than the Dallas location.
I was very nervous but determined! The entire office staff makes you feel as family from the very first phone call. Shannon, Jennifer, Dana and Elaine are fabulous to talk to. You walk in the door and bam. They talk to ya like you're BFF's! I first had Mini tummy tuck and lipo in the office under local anesthesia. My hubby says we were all cutting up through entire process. No complaints what so ever! And love my instant results! Then 2 weeks later I had breast lift and augmentation at the Star surgery center in Plano. Great group of staff there as well. Very small center and very personal! Dr VerHalen does Not disappoint! Everything I wanted and more! I'm 4 weeks post op on TT and Lipo and 2 weeks post op with Boobs! I'm so happy with all! I can't wait to get back to the gym and see final results couple months from now!

Anesthesia Concerns

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. There are a group of genetic conditions that can contribute to an adverse reaction to general anesthesia. For these patients, alternatives include using medications that do not trigger this adverse response, or performing procedures under local anesthesia or mild sedation. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. Good luck!

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I agree with many comments on this thread. You may be an excellent candidate for fat transfer to the breasts, but this will not be covered by insurance. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Fat transfer

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Yes, it is absolutely possible to transfer fat from your thighs and stomach, and transfer it to the breasts. Keep in mind that there is a limit to how much fat is transferred to the breast, as transferring to high of a volume can lead to poor fat graft survival. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Fat replacement for implants

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Yes, it is possible to replace your implants with your own fat. However, keep in mind that 1) you need to have adequate fat available to replace the breast implant volume, and 2) it will likely require multiple procedures to obtain the volume that you desire, as fat transfer to the breast can only produce modest increases in breast size (per round of fat grafting).

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. In general, we do NOT use a drainage tube during fat transfer cases. As noted elsewhere, it is not necessary to drain the fluid, and the tube can be a tract for infection. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Liposuction and transfer to the breast

Liposuction

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. In general, it is possible to only go up about 1 cup size with each round of fat transfer. I think that expecting to be able to replace the entire breast implant volume with fat, in one setting, is overly ambitious. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. I just want my confidence back

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I agree with most of the comments on this thread -- the decision to use an implant versus fat transfer really depends on the goals for your procedure, the size and shape of the breast you want (relative to your current breast), willingness to have an implant placed (versus fat), and cost. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Lip/Fat Transfer and healthy BMI

Liposuction

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Ideally, liposuction is used on patients who are at, or near their goal weight, in order to remove stubborn fat deposits or "sculpt" the figure. It is not intended for use as a weight loss tool, or for overweight patients who simply need to lose weight in general. Provided that you are not "underweight" and in need of weight gain, you very well could be a candidate for lipo. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Rupture removal

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, it is probably best to remove both of your implants. Depending on your desires, options include replacing the implants, a breast lift to restore your breast shape, or simply removing the implants and doing nothing afterwards. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, I think that it is likely unnecessary to repeat the mammogram and go straight to implant removal. Loose skin between breasts

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is difficult to say specifically what the flap of tissue is, although it is possible that you have a small area of symmastia. This happens if implants are placed too closely together, or if you have redundant skin between your breasts that is accentuated after your implants are placed. I suggest that you seek a face to face consultation with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. Good luck!

Revision for lipo

Liposuction

Member Response:

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It sounds as though you have a few choices. One is to modify your diet and exercise and lose the weight you have gained. The second is revision liposuction, as you have described. It is not necessary to have the fat re-injected to prevent it from coming back. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate you. Preoperative visualization with a surgical simulation program can help you make your decision. Hello and thank you for your question. Your situation is not unusual in patients who have had fat transfer to the buttocks, and then lose weight. In these instances, it is not unusual for patients to have a buttock implant placed. They are challenging, but not impossible. Good luck!

Dear Melanie, Hello and thank you for your question. Consultation costs really depend on your surgeon. Some surgeons do not charge a fee at all, while others charge up to $500. It is also somewhat influenced by where you live. This website has an excellent surgeon finder tool that will help you find a good match in your area. Good luck!

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Dear Kitty, Hello and thank you for your excellent question. The extent and cost of the surgery really depends on the level of difficulty. For simple implant removal without capsulectomy, this can be performed in the office under local anesthesia. If the implant is ruptured, or if the capsule needs to be removed, this must be performed in under general anesthesia. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure.
