Is this the right answer?

Eyelid Surgery

Member Response:

Thank you for your question! I would need to examine you in-person to best answer your question. Eyelid surgery has become one of my most popular procedures to remove the fat and skin that is protruding in your lower eyelid area. Saggy and crepey excess skin can be removed with an incision hidden in the lash line and fat can be removed with no visible incision. You may also benefit from skin-tightening procedures like Thermage, which is a non-surgical technique that uses radiofrequency technology to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin under the eyes with no downtime. The use of certain topical creams can also be helpful to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in surgical and non-surgical eyelid procedures.

How can I reduce facial redness and improve the quality of my skin?

Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing

Member Response:

For problems with skin redness, topical treatments for rosacea or acne may help. Procedures such as broken capillaries or ruddy pigment, lasers like the Pulsed Dye or Nd: YAG work best by using light energy to home in red areas on the face and body. When using a laser, a doctor does one pass, or several, over sections with persistent redness. The wavelength recognizes only high concentrations of pigment in the visible capillaries. Once heated, those vessels shrivel and disappear. In most cases, one to two laser sessions spaced over four to six weeks are necessary to reach complete clearance. Postprocedure, skin may be slightly irritated for a few days.

Lift

Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue and reshapes the contour of the breasts so that they are smaller and perkier. It is possible to do a breast reduction and lift with a minimal scar technique and can also be done as an outpatient procedure under twilight sedation. It's important to be sure expectations are realistic and you have an understanding of the commitment needed for the healing process. Make sure that you understand the nature of your surgery, the recovery process, and that you feel comfortable and emotionally ready to make these changes to your body. A breast lift raises droopy breasts from one to several inches and excess skin is removed. It is not a procedure done for reducing breast size, but for reshaping and lifting saggy breasts. I suggest making an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon who can explain in detail to you what your options are.

Canidate for Blepharoplasty

Eyelid Surgery

Member Response:

If undereye puffiness and dark circles need to be eliminated, an incision is made along the lower lashes that will be almost invisible when it heals. Next, the fat below is either removed or redistributed and the saggy and crepey excess skin is then pulled up and cut off. The incisions are closed with tiny sutures, which are removed in four to six days. The incisions are along your eyelash line, making it a virtually scarless procedure. Another approach for the lower eyelids is transconjunctival blepharoplasty, where the incision is made inside the eyelid, avoiding any type of scar. The tissue heals so quickly that there’s no need for stitches and hence, no scarring. I suggest making an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in blepharoplasty.

Gynecomastia Question

Male Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Fortunately, the condition can often be reversed with liposuction just by making a small incision under the nipple. It is now possible to reduce the size of the breast using virtually scarless technique. Through a small incision around the nipple liposuction with ultrasound and fine laser beams liquefy the fat and glandular tissue recontouring the breast around the areola and from the sides and bottom of the breasts. Because liposuction stimulates the skin to tighten, a smooth contour after fat is removed is possible. I recommend making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can go over your surgical options with you.

Liposuction

Male Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Gynecomastia is often an inherited condition that cannot be improved without surgery. The condition can often be corrected with liposuction by making a small incision under the nipple. You'll probably feel some pain when you wake up, especially if you cough, and you will likely have a few days or weeks of breast tenderness. You will have to wear a surgical garment for a week, and you should avoid any jarring exercise for at least one month. Your surgeon may insert drains to siphon off any excess fluid, and there will likely be more bleeding on the first day. Although you'll know how your breasts will look within three weeks or so, they won't take on their ultimate shape for several months. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Body Lift

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! There are various things that need to be considered for this type of surgery such as the patient’s past surgical and medical history, current health conditions, weight, age, expectations and readiness to proceed with the surgery. It will also depend on the surgeon’s recommendations and techniques used for these types of procedures. Upper body lifts can consist of procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck. Typical candidates for a full tummy tuck are women and men who've lost a great deal of weight and older people with loose skin due to age. You want to make sure that the surgeon is skilled and experienced and can show you before and after photos of their previous work with respect to these surgeries. The surgeon will determine what the best and safest route will be for the patient to ensure patient safety and satisfaction. I suggest making an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

After Surgery

Male Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! It’s best to check with your surgeon about post operative care, but gynecomastia surgery can often be performed through small incisions around the areola. I use a combination of liposuction that involves ultrasound to liquefy the fat so its less traumatic to the tissues and laser smart lipo which stimulates tissue tightening. Whatever the method used, the surgeon will eventually suck out the fat and glandular tissue from around the areola and from the sides and bottom of the breasts. Because liposuction stimulates the skin to tighten, good elasticity provides a smooth contour after fat is removed. I have my patients wear a surgical garment for a week and instruct them to avoid any strenuous exercise for several weeks. Your surgeon may also insert drains to siphon off any excess fluid. Although you'll have an idea of how your breasts will look within a few weeks they won't take on their ultimate shape for several months.

Thank you for sharing your photos! The nose is an extension of the face, the first thing one sees – but not the first thing one should notice. That honor goes to the eyes. If a nose is out of proportion with the midface, we can correct this and return attention to the eyes. Cosmetic nose problems we most commonly correct are an unsightly or crooked hump (dorsum), a nose sagging from old age, and a bulbous or shape-less tip that needs refining. A nose should fit your facial features, skin tone, ethnicity, and even height. For those seeking to improve the appearance of their chin to achieve a more defined jawline, there are various options one can choose from. A mentoplasty to improve a weak chin can work wonders. An artful surgeon not only will make the chin more prominent, but will do so in a way that better complements the nose (among other anatomical landmarks) and improves the face’s overall symmetry and harmony. Fat Redistribution

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

It is now possible for women to enlarge their breasts without resorting to implants! Specially prepared fat taken from another part of the body, such as the stomach or hips, is placed under the breast tissue to provide increased breast size without the need for artificial implants. The technique is called autologous fat transfers and autologous simply means "your own." And who doesn't have a little fat to spare? It's safe because it came from you, so you can't have a reaction to it. The procedure is quick and not particularly painful and can be performed without the need for general anesthesia! If you already have breast implants but want a little bit more augmentation fat transfer can also be used. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Pressure on lower belly

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! Although its difficult to say without an in person examination, if you have good skin elasticity, you should be a good candidate for tummy tuck. Typical candidates for a full tummy tuck are women with drooping abdomens after pregnancy, women and men who've lost a great deal of weight, menopausal women, or older people with loose skin due to age. In a tummy tuck, the skin from the rib cage down to the pelvic area is tightened, and the belly button is moved up and secured in a new position. Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, can take 3 hours or more and if you’re having the procedure as an outpatient, you’ll be able to go home shortly thereafter. My patients generally return to work in two weeks. Note that you may walk and sit a little hunched over for a few days after the operation. Don’t even try to stand up straight during this time—you risk separating the incisions. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon for consultation.

Fix diastasis recti and umbilical hernia in one operation please?

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! The main difference between the 2 procedures is that the mini-tummy tuck doesn't require moving or reconstructing the navel and the incision is shorter than the one made in a full tummy tuck. Pregnancy induced rectus diastasis can cause a significant shape change to the abdominal wall, even for very slender patients. Because the tissue between the muscles has been permanently stretched, no amount of exercise will restore the shape of the abdomen. Rectus diastasis is repaired through the surgical technique of an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck. This skin is lifted near the pubic hair, and elevated to the level of the breast bone. The muscles are tightened in the midline where the tissue had been stretched by pregnancy. Permanent stitches are often used. In the most severe cases, mesh is used to reinforce the central repair area. A hernia repair can also be done at the same time. I suggest making an appt. with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss options.

Breast Augmentation vs Implants which is Beat & Longlasting

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! There are many factors regarding how you want your breasts to look and feel, but if you and your doctor have a good line of communication, you should feel confident in your decision. A big factor that affects how implants look and feel is whether they're placed over or under the pectoral muscle. If you want a natural-looking breast you'll need an implant that’s placed under the muscle. But subpectoral implants aren't right for everyone. You could also do fat augmentation which can be done in addition to the implant. Specially prepared fat taken from another part of your body, such as the stomach or hips, is placed under the breast tissue to increase breast size. The technique is called autologous fat transfer and it’s done using your own fat. . In short, you must know what you’re starting with and what you want to look like post-operatively. Do you want a natural appearance or a round, perky look? I suggest seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss.

Cosmetic Ear Surgery

Ear Surgery

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! Cosmetic ear surgery, known as an otoplasty, is a procedure done to change the contour, position, or size of the ears. This procedure can be done at any age. It is important to discuss expectations with your plastic surgeon and undergo a physical exam so the surgeon can determine how to best achieve your desired ear shape, contour and size. The surgical techniques used by the surgeon in this procedure may vary based the type of ear correction needed. After making the incisions, the surgeon may remove some cartilage and skin of the ear to achieve the desired shape, size, and contour. An added benefit of this procedure is that it can be done as an outpatient under twilight sedation where the patient can go home the same day. Pricing for this type of cosmetic procedure may vary. I suggest you make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Cheek Augmentation

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing your photos! Although it is difficult to say without an in-person examination, you may be a candidate for facial fillers to give your cheeks and jaw-line a more chiseled, defined appearance. Radiesse is firmer than most fillers, so it’s a frequent fix for deep grooves and to enhance bony contours, particularly the cheek area. This product typically lasts anywhere between 12 and 24 months. Radiesse is now virtually painless because it is mixed with lidocaine which numbs the areas as it is injected. But buyer beware--injection techniques can vary. It’s the art and science of what doctors do, and it’s important to choose your doctor wisely. I suggest finding a physician with plenty of experience using this product and making an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Liposuction

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing. In order to provide my patients with the most desirable results, I use techniques that include liposuction combined with direct excision through the same incision to remove residual lipomatous tissue to ensure the lipoma is completely removed. This technique not only minimizes scarring but reduces recovery time. The combination of liposuction and excision is a safe alternative for lipoma removal and recurrence is uncommon following this outpatient procedure. You can read more about this procedure in my article (Combined Liposuction and Excision of Lipomas: Long-Term Evaluation of a Large Sample of Patients (hindawi.com) Libby R. Copeland-Halperin,1 Vincenza Pimpinella,2 and Michelle Copeland3). I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Mommy Makeover

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! If you're sagging or asymmetrical, and are looking for perkiness, you'll need a lift--or, if you also want more volume, a lift and implants. A mastopexy (breast lift) raises droopy breasts from one to several inches and excess skin is removed. To perk up a drooping breast, your surgeon will remove excess skin, reposition the nipple, and redrape and tighten the remaining skin to support the breast. The areola may also be reduced in size. If you just want to go bigger, you’ll need implants. It is also now possible to enlarge your breasts without resorting to implants! Specially prepared fat taken from another part of the body, such as the stomach or hips, is placed under the breast tissue to provide increased breast size without the need for artificial implants. Liposuction

Member Response:

Thank you for sharing! Liposuction is great for instant-gratification seekers, but don't fret if you still see imperfections in your shape. It can take 4 months, even a year, to get an accurate picture of how the body will look once the swelling subsides and everything settles into place. The neck lift is a quick way to reduce jowls, eliminate a double chin, slim the bands of muscle that form the wattle, and tighten neck skin. Often, liposuction alone can help resculpt this area and tighten loose skin. Today with Smart Lipo ,light can provide finer resculpturing of the neck and jowls. If greater tightening of the skin is required, it can often be done with tiny incisions behind the ear. These procedures can be performed as an outpatient without the need for general anesthesia allowing for a quick recovery. It's possible to do this on a Friday and be back to work on Monday. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon for consultation to discuss your options.

Awesome Experience This entire experience was the first for me and all new. Dr. Copeland and her staff were beyond wonderful from when I went for a consult through my entire procedure and follow up. They made me feel comfortable with the procedure from a medical view but also an emotional view. I couldn't give them a higher recommendation. They are an amazing team.
I recently had breast reduction with Dr. Copeland and had a great experience. I have needed this surgery for years but was afraid it would be too painful and disrupt my schedule, but now that I’ve had a few weeks to recover I’m free of back pain and am looking forward to exercising. I was reluctant to pay for a consultation but it was worth it because she is so thorough. She was the only Dr. who really understood my reservations and took time to address each one. Dr. Copeland’s staff really worked to accommodate my schedule. I highly recommend Dr. Copeland and her wonderful staff. –38 year old after breast reduction
Excellent Experience- Cankle/Calf Reduction Surgery Excellent experience overall. Dr. Copeland and her staff made me feel like their only patient from start to finish. And I am beyond happy with the results! This is something I have wanted to do for years. I finally have the legs I’ve wanted.
PRP Hair Restoration: I highly recommend Dr. Copeland. The PRP hair restoration treatments I have had have been successful beyond all my expectations. Not only has my hair grown in on a noticeable bald spot, but my hair looks and feels thicker. I found Dr. Copeland not only extremely competent, but she has been consistently honest and straightforward in explaining the procedures she offers and why, or why not they would be beneficial to me. I also found her office staff to be very well organized, warm and professional, with follow-up phone calls after procedures. Lastly, her nursing staff is lovely, reassuring and experienced. I was just really pleased with the whole experience, the treatment, the professional care and the efficiency.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty Very Expert Eyelift Great results. I had eyelid droop so severe that it was affecting my vision. The upper, vertical part of my field of vision had become obscured by my upper eyelids which projected out over my eyelashes. Dr. Copeland expertly cut back the upper lids to correct for that, and, of course with my consent, she also did some work on the lower lids (since I was already undergoing anesthesia). The results are fantastic. Exactly what I wanted, so clinically not only is my field of vision restored but the cosmetic affects are superb. Understated. No one would realize that I had an eyelift, except that I look (to others) inexplicably good. That’s what I wanted. Office handled the whole process effectively, conveniently and with reassuring care. Just remember though, that this is real surgery, and if one does this, you will look like hell for the first 3 days… after that things improve. So don’t panic; be a patient patient. Michael P.
Rhinoplasty Dr. Copeland changed my life. I got a closed rhinoplasty that included straightening the nose (quite a bit), removing a bump, refining the tip, and shortening the nostrils. The whole process of surgery and recovery (1 week) was smooth and I am so so happy with the results. My breathing has dramatically improved and for the first time I can remember, I like how I look. Don’t worry, I still look like myself, the change is natural. But I just don’t have to be self-conscious about my nose ever again. Phew! I have to say it again: Dr. Copeland changed my life!
Life Changer! “I never write reviews but I did my cankles with Dr. Copeland 3 years ago and I am glad to say that it was a true life changer. This Doctor was pretty professional, honest and caring. Thank you Dr. Copeland!”
Skin Cancer Reconstruction: Dr. Copeland’s expertise, aesthetic sense, and quiet confidence tell you that you are in the hands of a master plastic surgeon. Her training is second-to-none and she is always up-to date with the latest advances in her field. Her staff is caring, kind, and supportive. Follow-up is excellent. She has my highest recommendation.
Natural Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer My experience with Dr. Copeland was great! When I entered the office for my procedure, all of the staff were so helpful, nice, and supportive of me throughout the whole thing! I had a procedure done called an autologous fat transfer to both of my breasts, which means Dr. Copeland took fat from other areas in my body and used it to enhance the size and shape of my breasts. Plus the procedure took such a short time and I was able to go home the same day. I am very happy with the results and would definitely recommend my friends and family to see Dr. Copeland !
After my hysterectomy I gained a lot of weight. I was locked in for so many years I just couldn’t lose the weight and I was so heavy I couldn’t really exercise. Doctor Copeland, thank you so much for changing my life—the breast reduction and liposuction gave me the jump start to exercise and diet—I lost 30 more pounds. I walk 6 miles a day. – 38-year-old businesswoman from Florida
Eyelid Surgery: Dr.Copeland was attentive to my concerns, clear about the procedure and informative about the options and the results of the procedure all I hoped it would be. Lauren was not only very competent but very caring and comforting as well.
