Meet Dr. Ellen Mahony
As a female fellowship-trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Mahony is unique in her field. Currently, there is only a handful (less than 6%) of highly trained female surgeons in the United States with the skills and experience to perform specialized cosmetic procedures. However, in contrast, an increasing number of female clients are seeking cosmetic surgery services by female surgeons. As a gifted surgeon it is Dr.Mahony’s niche to provide the sensitivity and touch that only a woman-to-woman consultation can offer.
Dr. Mahony’s “woman-to-woman” perspective and her multifaceted practice have evolved out of a distinguished educational and professional journey. Dr. Mahony’s qualifications are grounded in her academic roots at Yale
University and at the University of Pennsylvania where she performed two residencies and fellowship training. She also holds a Physical Therapy Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree, a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a Medical Degree. She has traveled the world and worked in Tanzania, Africa where her motivation for a surgical career began. Dr. Mahony is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
She has received national and widespread professional recognition for her work on rejuvenation techniques for the lips. Dr. Mahony has graced the cover of The Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine, providing the lead story which details the special challenges of women surgeons today. She has also been selected from a world-wide group of healers to represent the “women who heal” in the nationally and internationally acclaimed book, The Power to Heal.
