The 2025 ASPS Procedural Statistics Report provides a unique window into the evolving landscape of plastic surgery. Beyond documenting procedural trends, it offers meaningful insight into how patients' goals, motivations and expectations are changing, and how board-certified plastic surgeons continue to evolve to meet those needs. This year's data tells a compelling story not only about the procedures being performed, but also about the patients seeking them and the factors driving their decisions.
One theme stands out: More patients appear to be seeking aesthetic surgery to complete their weight loss journey after using GLP-1 medications. Lift procedures across the body saw significant growth this year, as 82 percent of ASPS Member Surgeons reported consultation requests related to GLP-1 use.
ASPS also gained new insight into patient motivation. Surgeons overwhelmingly indicated that patients pursue aesthetic procedures to look and feel more like themselves after major life changes, including significant weight loss, pregnancy or aging. They are seeking restoration, not transformation, with the goal of enhancing their own unique features rather than changing who they are.
This year's data also reflects a demographic shift. Americans are living longer, remaining active and redefining what healthy aging looks like. Plastic surgery is increasingly becoming part of that journey, with adults aged 66 and older representing the fastest-growing age group undergoing procedures.
Board-certified plastic surgeons are uniquely positioned to help individuals of every age navigate these transformations safely and thoughtfully. As patients become increasingly informed and treatment options continue to expand, the role of the plastic surgeon has never been more important. While techniques and technologies continue to advance, our commitment remains unchanged: Helping patients make informed decisions and achieve outcomes that improve both their confidence and their quality of life.
The trends highlighted in this report reflect a specialty that continues to evolve alongside the patients it serves. Plastic surgeons remain committed to delivering compassionate, personalized care that places each patient at the center of every decision, whether the procedure is aesthetic or reconstructive, minimally invasive or surgical.
