Dr. Lisa Jewell established her cosmetic and reconstructive surgery practice with South Bay Plastic Surgeons 2006. Meet Dr. Lisa Jewell
Dr. Jewell is a native Californian, who earned her bachelor’s degree in physiology at the University of California, Davis. She also earned a minor degree in Latin and was a member of the varsity swimming and diving team. While at Davis she participated in various research projects including studying the effects of nutrition on tumor cell growth, the induction of programmed cell death, and organ transplantation.
After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Jewell earned her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. At this highly ranked institution, she distinguished herself with her excellent performance in the basic sciences and was chosen by the medical school faculty to be a teaching assistant for the undergraduate Physiology courses.
Dr. Jewell then returned to the West Coast where she completed a six-year general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residency in the University of Southern California training program. In this diverse and demanding program, Dr. Jewell trained with leaders in each plastic surgery subspecialty at Shriners Hospital for Children, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, City of Hope, Kaiser Permanent, USC University Hospital, USC Norris Cancer Hospital, and Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, one of the largest academic medical centers in the country. During her residency she was awarded for her dedication to teaching professional students within the Keck School of Medicine programs and was chosen by her peers to be an Administrative Chief Resident. Amongst her other accomplishments during this six-year period were research projects on the topics of burn wound healing, breast reconstruction, and the practice patterns of plastic surgeons.
Upon graduation from residency, Dr. Jewell continued her affiliation with USC and City of Hope. She was a Voluntary Clinical Faculty Member at USC where she participated in the clinical training of plastic and reconstructive and general surgery residents, orthopedic residents, and medical students. At City of Hope she honed her breast reconstruction and microsurgery skills as a consulting physician on the medical staff. During this time she established private practices in Santa Monica and in the South Bay. In 2009, Dr. Jewell made the decision to concentrate her practice within the cities of the South Bay where she lives with her husband and two young sons.
As a resident of the Beach Cities and South Bay community, Dr. Jewell is dedicated to providing concierge-level, personalized and compassionate care to her reconstructive and plastic surgery patients throughout the Los Angeles area. The diversity of her training and experience enables her to approach both the common and complex cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients with confidence. It’s been a year and I can say with absolutely confidence, Dr.Jewell is an icon. I did a breast augmentation back in November 2021 and I love the results! The office is very modern, warm, and friendly. The whole process went very smoothly and I couldn’t be happier. I wanted something that looked natural and fit my body type, I didn’t like the shape of breasts or their position. She provided me with a lot options and information. During the consultation she informed me about something called a “donut lift” to help with my shape concerns in conjunction with implants. Her private surgery center is beautiful and everyone who assisted me on surgery day was so friendly and made me very comfy. I would choose this method over a hospital any day. It seemed like a blink in time. Recovery was a breeze, I was so worried about pain and discomfort but there was none! I went to her with a serious case of scoliosis and two very large and uneven breasts that caused tremendous back pain. Ultimately, I decided to move forward with the procedure cosmetically and after seeing a few physicians, decided on Dr. Jewell. She came highly recommended by someone who had worked with her at Torrance Memorial. She is obviously highly educated and a board certified plastic surgeon, but it was truly her bedside manner that sold me. After meeting her, I felt an instant connection and wanted her to be my friend/neighbor. I felt she was thorough in our consultation and understood my goals and aesthetic. My surgery went amazing and I was surprised at how little pain I truly had. I had drains (which are annoying but no big deal) and was able to go to class a few days after surgery as I am a college student and couldn't miss any more time. I can't say enough about Dr. Jewell and the staff at South Bay Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Jewell is definitely skilled at what she does and the staff was absolutely sweet and welcoming. Dr. Jewell performed a breast augmentation/lift in November of 2018 and I absolutely love my results!! Dr. Jewell is always very professional and accommodating. I still see her periodically for check-ups and she takes the time to listen to my concerns and answers all my questions. I never leave an appointment feeling uninformed. I came to Dr. Jewell for an explant of my breast implants that were put in by another doctor post mastectomy. The job she did on the surgery was fantastic- I am so happy with how it looks. She is always prompt and professional. The office staff is also excellent.
Dr. Lisa Jewells is one of the best surgeons I've met in the Southbay. I am so happy with her work. I had a breast lift a few years ago with a surgeon in Torrance which left my breast so ugly with huge scars. The work he did on me left me emotionally and physically scarred. My body means so much to me and i was so happy i was highly recommended to Dr. Jewells. She's definitely the best surgeon and very professional with her work. She explains everything in detail and makes you feel very comfortable. Aside of that her work is amazing!! I cant wait until i heal 100%. Its been a few weeks that she did reconstruction on my breast and i can already see progress. If i could i would give her a 10!! for her work. Thank you Dr. Jewell. Dr. Jewell is the best!!! After 37 years, I decided it was time to replace my hardened breast implants. Dr. Jewell explained to me the necessary tedious and delicate surgery. I was nervous, but she put me at ease and I fully trusted her. The day of surgery I came to their new center, everybody was so nice, caring and took excellent care of me. Dr. Jewell did fantastic work on me and I absolutely love my new breasts!!
I love the 5 star rating "Woohoo! As good as it gets" - for that is exactly how I feel about my experience with Dr Jewell!! What can I say, I LOVE my results! I knew from the beginning that she would the right doctor for my breast reduction. Not only has my self-esteem soared, I have been able to exercise... I am running again (with only one sports bra) combined with life style changes. I no longer have back, neck or shoulder pain after years of going to doctors unsuccessfully. Dr. Jewell performed a tummy tuck, muscle repair and liposuction for me about a year ago. I'm so happy with the result! What an amazing experience working with her AND her staff! She is amazing!
