About the Practice

Valley Institute of Plastic Surgery is a comprehensive plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine practice serving Fresno, California, and communities throughout the Central Valley. Founded by Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Mark A. Chin, MD, MPH, the practice offers cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for the face, breasts, and body, along with a broad range of nonsurgical treatments through Aspire MediSpa. Dr. Chin established his Fresno practice in 1993 and has since built an experienced team dedicated to providing attentive, personalized care in a professional and supportive setting.

Dr. Chin believes that plastic surgery should enhance a patient’s natural beauty while respecting the individual features, proportions, cultural background, and personal qualities that make each person unique. Rather than applying the same aesthetic ideal to every patient, he develops individualized treatment plans based on each person’s anatomy, concerns, lifestyle, and desired outcome. His goal is to help patients address the physical concerns that may distract from their confidence while maintaining results that look balanced, refined, and appropriate for the individual.

As a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Chin is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed general surgery training at Loma Linda University Medical Center and extensive cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery training at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. His background in public health, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, and aesthetic plastic surgery helps inform a comprehensive approach to patient care.

Patient safety is an important part of the practice philosophy. Valley Institute of Plastic Surgery includes an office-based surgical facility accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, or AAAHC. This allows qualified patients to undergo procedures in a private surgical environment supported by an experienced clinical team. The practice also offers three-dimensional imaging for selected breast, body, and facial procedures, helping patients better understand potential treatment options and visualize possible changes during the consultation process.
