He is also board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and holds a masters degree with a focus on postoperative pain control. Dr. Raman Mahabir is a distinguished plastic surgeon in Tucson and Southern Arizona, recognized as a diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Previously a sought-after surgeon in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Dr. Mahabir also held a celebrated academic position as Professor and Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic. His expertise and achievements were further honored when he was selected as the Plastic Surgery Foundation’s Visiting Professor from 2017-2018, traveling internationally to operate and teach his peers. He specializes in cosmetic and restorative surgery of the face, breast, and body, with a commitment to creating natural and authentic results tailored to each patient.

Every patient is unique, therefore Dr. Mahabir wants to know about YOU! During your hour long consultation he will discuss your needs, goals, expectations, and most importantly what you are hoping to achieve with surgery. He will then address each of these points from a both an outcome and a safety perspective. Dr. Mahabir wants to ensure you know all of your options, as shared decision making is the most important aspect of patient-centered, individualized care. He will plan your surgery so that you, with the least possible risk and recovery time, achieve the most natural, long-lasting results.

I had implants and thought when I found breast cancer last summer it would be an easy implant swap and remove the growth. I've worked with both Dr. Gawley (double mastectomy) and Dr. Mahabir (double D-Flap / he's done close to 2,000 of these procedures), and they are both terrific! Dr. Mahabir was the head plastic surgeon for Mayo PHX and I loved that right before my most recent surgery an Honor Health surgical nurse told me that he is "brilliant.". This is the same feedback I've received from my Mayo oncologist! He is brilliant, however his ability to relate to patients is down-to-earth. He has awesome bed-side manner!" - KM
