BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

Dr. Matatov’s offers the widest and most advanced range of breast reconstruction procedures currently available. Southwest Breast and Aesthetics performs the highest volume of PAP Flap, Stacked Flap, and LTP Flap in the state of Arizona. These are advanced techniques that enable women who were previously not candidates for DIEP or TRAM flap reconstruction to possibly now qualify for muscle-sparing, flap-based breast cancer reconstruction for more natural feeling breasts. Dr. Matatov works with the most breast surgeons in the the valley to achieve optimal results. They also practice Enhance Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) to get patients home earlier, minimize pain, and improve healing.

Procedures Include:

DIEP Flap Surgery - Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap - DIEP Flap breast reconstruction is sometimes referred to as the “tummy tuck” flap reconstruction. This procedure is one of the most well-known of the muscle sparing procedures. If mastectomy patients have enough extra fat tissue around the stomach to rebuild the breast, they may be a candidate for the DIEP Flap with Dr. Matatov. If the patient does not have enough stomach fat tissue, they may still qualifying for other muscle sparing procedures at Southwest Breast and Aesthetics.

PAP Flap - Profunda Artery Perforator Flap - The PAP Flap is another muscle sparing procedure which uses tissue from the posterior thigh, or the back of the upper thigh to reconstruct the breast. If you are not a candidate for the DIEP Flap, this may be a good alternative with the added benefit of a “thigh lift”

LTP Flap - Lateral Thigh Perforator Flap - If a patient does not have enough tissue in the abdomen for the DIEP, Posterior Thigh (PAP Flap), or a combination of the two, they may be a candidate for the LTP Flap which uses tissue from the lateral thigh to reconstruct the breast. The LTP Flap can offer the added benefit of thigh contouring in the process.

Stacked Flap - If a woman does not have enough tissue from one donor site to rebuild the breasts or if she needs larger breasts, this reconstructive procedure uses tissue flaps from multiple donor sites.

Corrective Reconstruction – Patients who had breast reconstruction due to cancer but didn’t like the results can have a corrective procedure done by Dr. Matatov to amend the breasts and achieve a better outcome.

Hereditary Breast Cancer Reconstruction – Women who have hereditary risk of breast cancer may have a prophylactic mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction to minimize the chances of breast cancer.

Second Stage Reconstruction – This is a follow-up reconstruction procedure that’s aimed at fine-tuning the first reconstruction and create a more natural look.

Direct to Implant Reconstruction – This procedure allows women to have the implant breast reconstruction done (and completed) at the same time as the mastectomy.

AESTHETIC SURGERY

Outside of breast reconstruction, Dr. Tim Matatov is also experienced in aesthetic procedures focusing on the breasts, body, face, skin, as well as nonsurgical treatments. He offers the following cosmetic procedures:

Breast Augmentation– This is the most popular of the cosmetic procedures. Hundreds of thousands of women have a ‘boob job’ each year. According to a study on ASPS’s website, up to 98% of breast augmentation patients surveyed are happy with the results.

Breast Reduction – Women who have heavy breasts have reduction surgery in order to alleviate pain and improve the symmetry and proportion of the breasts to body frame.

Breast Lift – Helps improve shape and volume of sagging or uneven breasts. This is also often accompanied with breast implants.

Gynecomastia Treatment – This is a procedure to remove excessive growth of breast tissue in the male chest.

Tummy Tuck– Also known as abdominoplasty, this is a procedure to remove excess fat and skin, as well as restore weakened muscles to create a smoother and firmer abdominal profile.

Mommy Makeover - Multiple procedures performed at once. A Mommy Makeover usually consists of a tummy tuck, breast augmentation with a lift, liposuction, and sometimes labiaplasty.
