Hi - thank you for your question. Those lips of skin can be very frustrating! The good news is that they are very straightforward to correct. I generally recommend waiting about a year after an initial surgery to re-operate on the same area, so you are all set whenever you feel ready.

No definition in neck

Liposuction

Member Response:

Hi Stephanie - thank you for your question. Your issue is most likely caused by excess soft tissue relative to the amount of structural support it has. Soft tissue includes things like skin, fat and muscle. Bone (in this case your lower jaw, or "mandible") provides support for this soft tissue. Whether you have too much soft tissue or too little boney support can only be determined in an in-person consultation. If too much soft tissue is the issue, the question becomes "what kind of tissue is there too much of." If fat, liposuction is the answer. If skin or muscle, a necklift may be appropriate. If your boney support is insufficient, a chin implant might be appropriate. Of course, these procedures can be combined as necessary based on your individual anatomy. I hope this helps! - Dr. Smith

Lower abdomen protrusion... has anyone seen this before???

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Hi Lauren, thank you for your question. There are several possible causes for your lower abdominal bulge. These could include: fat distribution, a hernia, weakening of the tissue between your rectus abdominus muscles (rectus diastasis) or an intra-abdominal mass. While we can't provide a definite answer without knowing the specifics of your history or doing a physical exam, you can do an easy test on your own. If the bulge is easily pinched, it is most likely superficial fat. If not, it is likely a deeper issue. The most likely would probably be a rectus diastasis. While these separations between the six-pack muscles are most common after pregnancy, they can also be genetic. You should see a board certified plastic surgeon for an in-person consultation to get a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan. - Drs. Alan Matarasso & Darren Smith.

Age requirements

Aesthetic Genital Plastic Surgery

Member Response:

Hi, thanks for your question. In general, one must be 18 years to consent to a medical or surgical procedure. There are many different types of vaginal rejuvenation procedures, and it is unlikely someone of this age would need true “rejuvenation.” However, other vaginal procedures, such as to treat discomfort or other issues, may be appropriate.

Member Response:

Hi- thank you for your question. While it is safe to combine some body contouring procedures, the key in ensuring safety is limiting operative time. The combination you are describing would likely take more time than would be safe. As a next step, consider meeting with an ASPS member-surgeon in your area that specializes in combining body contouring procedures.
