He enjoys a challenge and practices a broad spectrum of plastic surgery to maintain a diverse skillset that sets him up for success in every situation. Meet Dr. Louis Poppler

Dr. Poppler is a board-certified plastic surgeon committed to helping patients look and feel their best. He has had the opportunity to travel all over the world to learn cutting-edge techniques and skills that allow him to deliver the highest level of care. A Boise native, Dr. Poppler has been serving the local community since 2019, specializing in facial aesthetic surgery and breast surgery — including breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast enhancement — as well as a wide range of other cosmetic and reconstructive procedures.
Dr. Poppler is passionate about patient centered care - getting to know his patients, including them in all decisions, and delivering tasteful, timeless results they love. He combines artistry with his broad knowledge of surgical techniques to help patients enhance their natural beauty and feel more confident. Dr. Poppler regularly sees medically and surgically complex patients referred by other surgeons. He enjoys taking on challenging cases that push him to learn and grow so that he is always ready with a safe, skilled solution for every situation.
Dr. Poppler attended Georgetown University and did medical school at the University of Washington as part of the Idaho WWAMI program. He completed six years of dedicated plastic surgery training at Washington University in St. Louis. After his plastic surgery residency, he also completed advanced training fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (one year), and at Washington University in St. Louis (two years). Dr. Poppler is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only Plastic, Reconstructive, & Aesthetic surgery specific board recognized by the American College of Medical Specialties. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Poppler enjoys spending time with his family and friends, walking their Irish Wolfhound Fearghus, supporting the community, cross fit, dancing to electronic music, and exploring Idaho's great outdoors.

New Patients are typically seen for 30-60 minutes depending on the complexity of the procedure they are interested in. Dr. Poppler and his team will ask you to fill out a health history form prior to your visit so that Dr. Poppler can focus his questions during your visit to topics relevant to your concerns and surgical safety. Dr. Poppler will ask you to describe in detail your concerns and goals. He will then perform a physical examination and talk you through what he sees. You are welcome to point things out, ask questions, or disagree with him throughout this process. He will then talk you through your options and explain his recommendations based on your physical examination, health and surgical history. He will discuss the pros and cons of the various options, the risks, and the after care. He will give you an opportunity to ask questions and answer all questions that you have. Finally, he will ask you how you wish to proceed and leave the final decision up to you. If you are seeking cosmetic, or non-insurance covered surgery he will give his team the necessary information for your procedure so that they can calculate a price quote for you. If you need any additional testing prior to surgery, he will order it for you at that visit and schedule a follow-up. He will then plan to see you back 2-4 weeks before your surgery to re-examine you, discuss the plan with you once more, and ensure that you fully understand your condition, the proposed surgery, the after care, and all risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Dr. Poppler only operates at accredited hospitals and surgery centers for your safety and comfort. All surgery centers where he operates have the rigorous Quad A Certification.
