As a plastic surgeon it is my mission to help restore form and function to the human body. Areas of particular specialization in my practice are aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face, eyes, nose, and breast. For the breast we provide the full range of procedures including microvascular perforator flap and implant procedures. Beyond these specialty areas, I have a practice that includes the breadth of cosmetic and general plastic surgery.

Meet Dr. Mark McRae
I am a plastic surgeon that is board certified in Canada and the United States.
I am a specialist in facial plastic surgery and plastic surgery of the breast.
I am fortunate to have trained at Yale University, NYU Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, and the University of Toronto. It is part of my mission to pass along my expertise now to other surgeons and trainees. Most of all I strive to provide excellent care to my patients.
My work is based out of St Michael's Hospital, University of Toronto. I have a cosmetic surgery practice located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

I recently had rhinoplasty surgery performed by Dr. Mark McRae in order to correct a badly deviated septum (the result of a sports injury). Dr. McRae came highly recommended by a family friend (also a health care professional). I found Dr McRae professional, knowledgeable, very personable, and more than happy to answer all my questions (which were numerous): he completely put my mind at ease with regards to my surgery, which when completed was a total success. He repaired the septum and also straightened my nose (which was off centre), resulting in restored air flow through the right nostril greatly reducing sinus congestion which has plagued me for years! I would also like to mention the invaluable help which Kelly O'Hara (Dr McRae's administrative assistant) provided with regards to guiding me through the process of correctly completing all paperwork required by the Human Resources department from my place of employment, these forms can be confusing but Ms O'Hara made the process simple. No, but it sounds like you should get worked up by a doctor as there are several medical causes of pleural effusions that need to be investigated.

Dear Anitasha, Ideal correction involves several components. If you are not comfortable with implants you will not be addressing all components. Implants help fill the breast particularly in the upper pole. Partial correction is possible without implants in one procedure and you can decide to proceed with the breast implants at a later time as an additional surgery in the future to improve the shape and upper pole projection. In that first surgery The nipple areola can be reduced in size and lifted in position to be close to the same level at the most projecting portion of the breast. The breast size can be made similar by reducing the volume of one to the same size as the other. your surgery in 2 stages is very safe. Doing the lift first will allow you to see the improvement that you get with that portion of the procedure without the augmentation. Fat grafting can be considered but will not give you the volume that an implant would, nor the same amount of shape improvement.
Is there any way I could have my nipples removed completely (the nipples as well as the areolae)?

Yes the nipple and Areola can be removed. However, you will be left with scars. The incision can be closed as a straight line that is longer than the diameter of the areola. Scars are visible and I would consider that you current areola in the above picture do not appear deformed. There are differences between the two but a symmetry is considered normal. Walking around without areola and chest scars will be more noticeable. One option that we use in breast reconstruction is nipple areola tattoo. Tattooists can help hide the scars, change pigment on the unaffected nipple or create new 3D appearing nipple areola if you do go forward with removal. They can also help disguise the scars. So that is an option for you even if you do not do surgery. It is also a good option if you do get your areola removed. Overall I would advise you to avoid the surgery if you can because I would be concerned that you will be less satisfied with the result. You are tradingone cosmetic issue for another.

My experience with Dr. McRae was excellent beyond words. Dr. McRae gave me my life back. I had cancer removed from my nose from another plastic surgeon which left my face and nose deformed and horrendous! Dr. McRae took me on a 4 month, 5 surgeries marathon to reconstruct my nose and face to almost 100%. Dr. McRae has made me feel beautiful again with his expertise and compassion.
