Your Consultation

New patient appointments are usually scheduled for afternoon hours Monday through Thursday, consistent with Dr. Parker's surgical schedule. The New Jersey plastic surgery consultation will provide an opportunity to explore your options and discuss your procedures in detail. The consultation also usually includes educational videotapes, a review of photographic examples of other patients' results and may include computer imaging.

We obtain color photographs of most patients before and after surgery. Preoperatively these photographs can be "imaged" or morphed in certain cases to give the patient a idea of what surgery might do. These images are not a guarantee of results, but intended to help you imagine the possibilities of plastic surgery. Imaging is particularly helpful for the following surgeries: rhinoplastyliposuctionfacelift, browlift , eyelid surgery.

capsular contracture

Breast Implant Revision

Member Response:

A diagnosis of capsular contracture is made by physical examination; there isn't any other testing needed for it. It does not usually occur within the first few weeks after surgery but instead over time. Muscle spasm will improve with time and with muscle relaxants. An experienced plastic surgeon should be able to make the distinction between the two.

How long should I wait

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

There isn't an automatic time frame in between these surgeries. You will want to fully recover from the surgical trauma of a tummy tuck. In addition, you will want to recover from the anesthesia given for your tummy tuck surgery before undergoing another anesthesia. The breast augmentation and arm lift can be done at the same time. In situations like yours, we will have the patient, anesthesiologist and I work out a timetable for another procedure with which everyone is comfortable.

size and profile change

Breast Implant Revision

Member Response:

You can reduce the size of the implant as well as change its profile and shape. When doing so we modify the implant pocket to accommodate the new implant.

Sleep position

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Once you are completely healed from a tummy tuck, you should be able to sleep in any position, including on your side. Discuss your anticipated recovery including the time frames as to when you can do what with your surgeon.

Botox and Injectors- Nurse Injectors or MD?

Botulinum Toxin

Member Response:

If you feel more comfortable with your surgeon performing your injection, by all means, do so--just tell the front desk people who you want to see. I will say that we have a very experienced nurse injector in our practice. She receives rave reviews from our patients and has a busy injection practice. She is well trained and exercises good judgement which keep her patients safe, happy and returning with other patients as well.

Tummy Tuck With Hypothyroidism

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Prior to having a tummy tuck, you should get your thryoid controlled by your medical doctor and/ or endocrinologist, then weight reduced. A tummy tuck is not a form or weight loss surgery but instead is a form or body contouring to help improve the shape of you body.

Liposuction

Member Response:

We perform a lot of liposuction here in our practice, including large volume liposuction. A face to face evaluation would be most helpful to determine your desires and what can be achieved most safely and effectively.

how much will I be paying ?

Cosmetic Surgery

Member Response:

These fees will vary based on the amount of fat being removed and transferred as well as the location and experience of the plastic surgeon. A face to face evaluation is best to help determine all of this.

Costs

Liposuction

Member Response:

Charging for consultation fees varies by area. In our area of Bergen County, NJ, the vast majority of plastic surgeons do not charge for consultation fees.

Capsule contracture

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

As mentioned, the implant companies have different policies to defer some of the costs of treating capsular contracture with surgery. If your condition is worsening, you should return to your surgeon for a re evaluation and discussion of options, including removal of the capsule and implant, then replacement with a new implant.

Age

Breast Augmentation

Member Response:

Your breasts should be fully developed and stopped growing before considering breast augmentation.

7 days post op left side has had the same swelling. Left side looks big, right side flat and okay.

Breast Reduction

Member Response:

It's hard to advise without seeing a picture of what your breasts look like. Based on your description, I would be sure to follow up with your surgeon. It is possible, that despite having a drain still in place, you have a collection of blood inside the breast which might need to be drained.

Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Yes, we will sometimes operate on one breast only in situations such as yours where we are trying to match the other breast as closely as possible.

Tattoo excision

Tattoo Removal

Member Response:

Tatoo excision has been replaced by laser treatments to a large extent. Excision is something that is still done depending on the size and location of the tattoo as well as the elasticity of the surrounding skin.

Would I be a candidate?

Breast Reduction

Member Response:

You should be a candidate for breast reduction surgery. Obtain a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. They will examine you, then discuss breast reduction procedures with you.

Am I a candidate for minimal scar arm lift?

Arm Lift

Member Response:

It's very hard to evaluate you without pictures or and in person examination. Best advice is to obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. They can examine you, then discuss options to try to improve the contour of your arms.

So Many Questions

Liposuction

Member Response:

Liposuction is a form of body contouring to improve shape and not a form of weight loss. Best advice is to obtain an evaluation by your pcp to determine why you are gaining and not able to lose weight.

Qualifications

Panniculectomy

Member Response:

With your weight loss issues and skin laxity you would appear to be a good candidate for a panniculectomy (removal of the hanging skin only) or a tummy tuck. Best advice is to obtain a consultation from a board certified plastic surgeon to be examined and evaluate your options.

Bumps and tightness

Facelift

Member Response:

What you describe is not uncommon following a face and neck lift. Be sure to follow up with your surgeon so they can evaluate you and help speed your recovery.
