Breast Lift and implants OTM vs UTM

Breast Lift

Member Response:

I am not aware of any study that demonstrates an earlier recurrence of sagging with one plane of implant placement vs. another. There are several factors to consider in choosing to go above or below the muscle. One consideration is what is called animation deformity which is when the pectoralis muscle contracts causing the breast to jump. If you regularly flex your pecs during exercise, you may want to go above the muscle to avoid this.

What’s more suitable?

Liposuction

Member Response:

Liposuction is not a weight loss technique. Please talk with your pediatrician about a consultation with a dietician and a gym membership. In your photographs you do not appear so overweight as to warrant Bariatric Surgery.

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Most people with a BMI of 46 need to lose a significant amount of weight before they are a candidate for a tummy tuck. If you are not able to lose weight through diet and exercise, you may want to consult a Bariatric Surgeon..

Incision glued puckered - will it flatten, options if not

Wound Care

Member Response:

That is a perfectly normal closure. Plastic surgeons create this pucker as all scars flatten as they mature. If they scars starts out flat, it may end up depressed.

Bump on nose after closed rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty

Member Response:

1 month after surgery is too early for a bony callous to form. The bump is most likely swelling in the nasal muscle that should resolve in the next 2 months. Follow up with your surgeon.

Breast Implant Removal

Member Response:

Deflating saline implants about 6 weeks prior to removal will make the lift easier to perform as your tissues will tighten up to a degree on their own. Unfortunately if your nipples lost sensation at the time of implant placement, there is no way to restore sensation. Good luck.

Gallbladder removal and abdominoplasty

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

Short answer is you can not do them together. Gall bladders are removed laparoscopically which requires pumping nitrogen into the abdominal cavity. This makes it difficult if not impossible to tighten the abdomen at the same time. You should wait 1-2 months after the hall bladder removal before the tummy tuck.

Breast Implant Removal

Member Response:

This is a very common procedure-just did one today. It is possible to redistribute breast tissue from the lower part of the breast to the central portion or to do the fat grafting that Dr. Donati describes.

Breastfeeding

Breast Reduction

Member Response:

Studies show 60% of women can successfully breast feed after breast reduction surgery as long as the surgery did not involve cutting off and reattaching the nipple.

can a leaking saline implant cause bilateral pleural effusions

Breast Implant Revision

Member Response:

The brief answer is, “No”. There is no connection between your breasts and your lungs. Seek care from a lung specialist. Good luck m

Question about modified buttock lift after weight loss proceedure-cannot find before/after pics

Buttock Lift with Augmentation

Member Response:

If you can pull up on the area just above your buttocks and the excess folds disappear, then an excisipnal buttocks lift would likely help. You would have full wing scars above your buttocks, but these would be covered by your underwear.

Abdominoplasty with hernia repair

Tummy Tuck

Member Response:

I agree with the two previous responses that umbilical hernia repair does not require an abdominoplasty. You should consult a general surgeon as they perform most umbilical hernia repairs.

can i do a rhinoplasty at 15?

Rhinoplasty

Member Response:

You should pursue rhinoplasty when you have stopped growing. An X-ray of your hand can demonstrate that you have reached bone growth maturity. It is also important that you can describe to your plastic surgeon the particular features of your nose that you don’t like. One or both or your parents need to accompany you to the consultation.

Neck Liposuction

Liposuction

Member Response:

You should have an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether liposuction plus radio frequency or an open neck lift would give you the best results.

If you enter your zip code in the find a surgeon function on the ASPS website, you will get a list of plastic surgeons in your area. Try contacting them to see if they accept high school students as shadows.

Breast Reconstruction

Member Response:

Very often a radiated breast will be firmer and tighter. You should discuss your options with your plastic surgeon.

Rhinoplasty

Member Response:

When evaluating chin projection you drop an imaginary line from the lower lip to the chin. In your case your chin aligns with your lower lip so it is your nose that is overprojected.

Which is the most preferred Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant

Member Response:

Follicular Unit Extraction leaves multiple spaced out 1 millimeter scars which are essentially invisible. A strip harvest leaves a potentially visible scar if you wear your hair short. The hair follicles harvested from the back of your head should last your whole life. If you are still losing hair from the front, that process may continue, but the transplanted hairs are safe. The harvested hair follicles need to be placed in a cold preservative solution during the couple of hours between harvest and implantation. Good luck.

There a certainty no rush in removing your deflated saline implant especially since your plan is to have them removed. Good luck with your hip surgery.
