Dr.Henderson is very professional with his patients. I been going to his office for over 3yrs. I’m one of his patients that had reconstruction surgery from breast cancer that other doctor did and I wasn’t please with my breast. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Dr. Peter Henderson among my hours of research for breast reduction surgeons. He gives options, is open to discussion and best of all- he is has the skills, experience, and education to make it all come together. Hopefully I am nearing my end stages of reconstruction and I see and feel myself coming back to “myself” with more confidence and comfort after each stage. I’ve been a tough, tough case… but he has always kept me optimistic and encouraged and improving. Thanks for sharing your story. Must be a difficult situation to be in. As someone who helps a lot of women who have had foreign body injections into the breasts, and have tried everything from minimal surgery (try to remove just targeted areas) to more aggressive surgery (near-total mastectomy), I am increasingly confident that many women would be well-served by having the more aggressive approach. Our ability to reconstruct after total mastectomy is very good (especially when using your own tissue, which avoids the need for another, albeit safer, foreign body such as in intact implant), and the degree of benefit that can be obtained from a limited approach is always underwhelming. It is certainly a major decision, and I encourage you to fully discuss with multiple surgeons before settling on a course, but all things being equal I would not shy away from the more aggressive approach. Great question. Whether it is at the same time as the breast surgery (“immediate setting”) or at any point after that, even years later (“delayed reconstruction”), you always have options to make breasts smaller, bigger, or to change their shape. In your case, there are multiple ways that the breasts can be enlarged, though the fact that you’ve undergone radiation may impact the exact details available to you. I recommend that you discuss with a surgeon who is able to offer the full range of reconstruction options (including advanced tissue-based options, which can be used as a stand-alone procedure, or in conjunction with implants). This way you will be sure to have been offered all available options, and you can work with that surgeon to find the option that is best for you. I'm sorry that the operation that she underwent did not give her the relief that it usually does for most women. And to have such issues arise at such a young age is unfortunate. Even though it has been 4 years I definitely recommend that she discuss with the surgeon who performed the operation (fortunately there is almost always something that can be done if an operation has not gone as well as you had hoped). If meeting with that surgeon does not provide a good pathway towards improvement, then I wholeheartedly suggest that she seek a second opinion from a different surgeon so that she can get another opinion and perspective on the circumstances. I am happy I found dr Henderson and a team I can trust. He has done a phenomenal job and I am in love with my results so far I am still a little swollen and sore due to me getting my procedure done recently but so far I am in love my back feels so much lighter and better due to lighter chest I strongly recommend to anyone who is in need of a reduction everyone is respectful and understanding very professional.
Dr. Henderson and the staff at Mt. Sinai were courteous, professional and respectful at every appointment during my journey. They continue to be accomodating and thoughtful. The follow up care was professional even when I had to reach out to the doctor on the weekend. I am so grateful that I met Dr peter Henderson. I met other surgeons before him and never get peace of mind. But once I met him it was immediate peace of mind. He was very patient and he explains everything in detail so that I completely understands. I have number of health issues and he was very careful with me. He even rescheduled my surgery on the same day of the first scheduled date. Simply because I took one of my meds that that I shouldn’t have taken. Even with consent of all my other doctors that is safe because it was over 12 hours, he said not going to run a risk with me because my situation is a very serious one. And even healing faster that I was told I would because of my health. I have seen other surgeon in the ER and they told you had a very good surgeon. I thought that I might have has an infection, turns I didn’t have any infection. He went above and beyond to take care of me. I would 100% recommend him to anyone, you will be in good hands. In fact I already did and they are so pleased with results that they want to to go my surgeon. His work is A and I don’t think anyone could have done a better job. I love my new breast and feel so much better and confident about myself. He gave me exactly what I ask for. Dr. Henderson is an excellent Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon! He treated me very well and was very patient with me. Due to my endometriosis I had so many visits to hospitals and a lot of surgeries, my experience with doctors are not very pleasant. The fact that some doctors forget that they went to school for so many years to study a career that could change a lot of ppl’s life and their families, but some of them forget on their way every single reason why they became doctors. Dr Peter Henderson it’s just the kind of doctor that you want to see when you go to a hospital. He is kind, very polite and profesional, listens and he explains every single detail of the process before and after in such a perfect way. The time for the appointments is not that far… I had a breast reduction at 14St with him and if you are reading this because you’re are looking for a good surgeon, Dr Henderson is the right one. Now I am trusting him for my daughter’s surgery ✨🙏🏽✨ Oh! By the way, when he is removing the tubes of draining you won’t feel any pain at all…. I had a consultation with Dr. Peter Henderson for a breast reduction in July. He made me feel comfortable, addressed all of my questions & concerns, and walked me through each step of the process. I did not feel rushed as I have in other offices. My insurance approved the procedure which I had at the end of September. His office was very accommodating in working with my schedule. Janequa is very knowledgeable and a great liaison to Dr. Henderson. This was my first surgery and I had a few concerns while healing. Janequa and Dr. Henderson answered these concerns with urgency and care each time. I am so happy with my results as well as how my consultation, surgery, and follow up was treated. had breast cancer in my left breast and settled for a mastectomy for both breast. Dr. Henderson performed the reconstruction. His team was very professional and caring during my recovery post surgery. Dr. Henderson is an awesome doctor who is humble for a surgeon and continues to follow up with my care. After consulting with four plastic surgeons, I went with Dr. Henderson for my reconstruction of my left breast. I am a breast cancer survivor, and noticed as I got older, my breasts became less symmetrical. From the moment I met him and after he examined me, I became at ease and knew that he was the one for my surgery. During our conversation, he was positive as to how to proceed due to the difficulty of where my tumor had been located. He listened to my concerns and he diligently explained what he could do for best results. His bed side manners and professionalism are exceptional. Therefore, I give Dr. Henderson an A rating.
