Meet Dr. Franklin Richards

Franklin D. Richards, MD, FACS is an award-winning board certified plastic surgeon in Maryland.  Dr. Richards is a long-standing resident of the Washington D.C. metro area and a graduate of George Washington University in 1982, Dr. Richards is board certified and has been in practice since 1989.  Dr. Richards specializes in facial plastic surgery, breast augmentation surgery, abdominoplasty and male breast reduction. Patients who meet with Dr. Richards immediately recognize both the passion he has for his work and the professional manner in which he deals with people. The concerns and goals of the patient are principal in forming his thoughtful and honest evaluations. His outstanding abilities inspire such confidence that fellow doctors and their spouses, when in need of cosmetic procedures, come to Dr. Richards. His surgical skill, trustworthiness and approachability have earned him a lasting reputation.  You can be assured that you will be treated with compassion and integrity from the first phone call to your last appointment.  Voted President of the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2002 and past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins/Suburban Hospital, Dr. Richards has assumed a leadership role in his field. He has presented at national meetings and been published in national professional journals. He has been the recipient of the Physicians Recognition Award from the American Medical Association (AMA) and the prestigious Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Dr. Richards is cited in the National Consumer Checkbook ‘Top Doctor List' and the National Consumer Research Council of America has listed him as one of ‘Americas Top Surgeons.' Dr. Richards' skill and expertise have also been established locally. Washingtonian magazine has recognized him in their ‘Top Plastic Surgeons' list, and has done so since 1995. His expert opinion has been sought by numerous prominent publications, including The Washington Post and Washingtonian magazine. As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of several distinguished surgical associations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Dr. Richards continues to avail himself of the collective knowledge and progress in fields of plastic and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Richards was privileged to have served his country as an attending plastic surgeon at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He also served as director of the Burn Unit at William Beaumont Army Medical Center during Desert Storm I. Dr. Richards has volunteered, offering plastic surgery services (cleft lip and palate) on several missions to Honduras and Haiti.

Dr. Franklin D. Richards is available for consultations Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Dr. Richards and his competent staff want each of our patients to feel confident that their comfort and wellbeing are utmost priorities before, during and after their procedures.
