Chest Masculinization Surgery

Surgery for Trans Men

The goal of chest masculinization surgery is to remove the breast tissue from both breasts and shape the skin, tissue and nipples to give a masculine appearance to the chest.

Who is a good candidate for chest masculinization surgery?

Chest masculinization surgery is a highly individualized procedure. You should only consider it for your own reasons, not to fulfill someone else's wishes or to try to fit any sort of idealized image.

You may be a candidate for chest masculinization surgery if:

  • You have been under the care of a mental health professional who can provide a letter of recommendation supporting your decision to undergo surgery
  • You are of the age to provide legal consent
  • You have a positive outlook and realistic expectations
  • You are actively and successfully addressing any significant existing medical or mental health concerns
  • You have a healthy body mass index (BMI) – some surgeons may require you to have a BMI within a certain range before scheduling surgery
