The goal of masculinizing genital surgery is to use existing female genital tissue, and sometimes tissue from another part of the body, to create a surgically constructed neophallus (neopenis).
Following masculinizing genital surgery, gauze or bandages may be applied to your incisions. A support garment may be used to maintain the neophallus's position and prevent excessive movement while the tissues heal.

Healing will continue for several months as swelling decreases. Continue to follow your plastic surgeon's instructions and attend follow-up visits as scheduled.
