Microsurgery

Microscope-Assisted Operations

Reconstructive microsurgery focuses on repairing intricate structures such as blood vessels and nerves less than a few millimeters in diameter.

How should I prepare for microsurgery?

In preparing for microsurgery, you may be asked to:

  • Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
  • Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding

Microsurgery is typically performed in a hospital setting and will likely use general anesthesia.
