ASPS Education Network

The ASPS Education Network (ASPS EdNet) is a centralized, interactive educational website, created by surgeons for surgeons. ASPS EdNet offers a lifetime of learning from residency to retirement. It is fully functional, and a one-stop shop for all plastic surgery specialties.

Our new learning portal has been upgraded to:

The new learning portal offers a way for you to manage your continued education utilizing ASPS Education Network resources. You can keep track of videos and courses you want to review, check grades, view course and test details, and more. Below are just a few content categories on the new ASPS Education Network.

ASPS University

ASPS University provides virtual courses for plastic surgeons and other medical professionals on both practice management and clinical topics. Led by recognized experts in the field, these interactive and on-demand online classes provide participants with in-depth information on a variety of subject areas. Surgically-focused courses have covered body contouring, abdominal wall reconstruction and migraine surgery. Practice management topics have included late career planning and essentials of coding. New courses and topics are continuously being added.

Courses are available in several different formats, including e-learning, webinars, podcasts and surgical videos. To fit with your busy lifestyle, courses are usually available on-demand.

Enhance Your Practice Podcast

The ASPS Enhance Your Practice Podcast series serves as an educational appetizer for plastic surgeons and office professionals looking for practice management information on-the-go. It covers next steps early in a career, financial planning, staffing, med spas, starting a private practice and much more. Podcast guest speakers are plastic surgeons, office professionals and industry experts.

Plastic Surgery Hotseat Podcast

Plastic Surgery Hotseat presents Plastic Surgeons: Views on Clinical Controversies. In this new clinical podcast featuring controversial topics or differing opinions on procedural paths, ASPS EdNet and ASPS University come together to tackle tough topics in breast, pediatric, craniofacial, aesthetic, reconstructive and extremities.

PRS CME Journal Articles

For more than 70 years, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, has been the one consistently excellent reference for every specialist who uses plastic surgery techniques or works in conjunction with a plastic surgeon. Through ASPS EdNet, you can earn AMA PRA Category 1 and Patient Safety credit for reviewing select PRS articles.

ASPS EdNet PRS QR Program

The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery® Quarterly Review (PRS QR Program) provides everything ASPS members need to create their very own journal club with their fellow peers and earn CME in the process.

Monthly Case Studies

What would you do? Test yourself by reading the patient presentations in our case reports and then choosing what operative path you would take. ASPS EdNet offers case reports that encompass all sub-specialties of plastic surgery. Track your time spent on case reports via the My Courses function and produce a transcript of Category 2 Credit when needed.

Microsurgery 101

Need a refresher on microsurgery? ASPS EdNet features a series of microsurgery courses designed for surgeons looking for a comprehensive refresher on certain microsurgery techniques. Lead my the leading microsurgeons in the field, these member benefit courses provide presentations, surgical how to videos, and supplemental materials.

Surgery Spotlight

Exclusive HD video program produced by the ASPS Education Network, Surgery Spotlight is a "how-to" program that features surgical videos demonstrating plastic surgery procedures from markings to final stitches. All Surgery Spotlight videos are free for members to view, and some also include an optional CME test that can be purchased to earn credit for the activity. Programs have covered everything from aesthetic procedures like rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty and breast augmentation to reconstructive cases like SIEA and DIEP flap breast reconstruction, mandible reconstruction and facial reinnervation.

Resident Education Curriculum (REC)

Thanks to a joint program between ACAPS and ASPS, the ASPS Education Network offers more than 100 self-assessment modules for practicing surgeons and residents alike. Each module provides journal article readings, presentations, videos, clinical case scenarios and tests that cover all aspects of the specialty. Program directors are welcome to enroll their residents in the ASPS Education Network REC and review transcripts to track progress.

Get an ASPS EdNet Subscription

ASPS Education Network is a password-protected resource that is included as a benefit of membership for members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and residents of participating residency programs. If you are not a member of ASPS or a participating society, you may purchase an annual ASPS Education Network subscription to access surgical videos, lecture presentations, case reports, literature reviews, practice management resources and ASPS Education Network community.
