Intended Audience

This course is appropriate for surgeons seeking a review of clinical science and patient safety issues. It is useful for those preparing to take the oral ABPS examination.

ASPS has sole discretion and reserves the right to refuse registration and/or limit participation in its activities.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify patient safety issues related to patient care, verbalize these concerns and incorporate them into the management protocol
  • Assess and describe their current knowledge of plastic surgery and identify areas where further study would be beneficial
  • Compare approaches to complex plastic surgery problems with colleagues
  • Respond to clinical questions in a concise, orderly manner
  • Describe the format of the oral board examination

Accreditation

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons designates this live virtual activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Of the 21.25 credits, 3.0 credits have been identified as applicable to patient safety.

Recognition Statement

The Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits offered by this activity are enhanced by ASPS Learner Credit Reporting for learners who have opted into this reporting. Successful completion of this CME activity enables active American Board of Surgery (ABS) members the opportunity to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the ABS's Continuous Certification program when claimed within 30 days of completion of the activity.

Participants in ASPS-accredited education who want their CME credits reported to certifying and state licensing boards must opt-in to reporting and add their NPI as well as state license ID and/or collaborating board ID(s) before claiming credit.
