Plastic Surgery Resident goes online

Plastic Surgery Resident, a quarterly magazine from the publishers of Plastic Surgery News, will debut as a digital publication in 2020 with supplemental updates distributed in a monthly e-newsletter. The publication and e-newsletter are distributed to all members of the ASPS Residents and Fellows Forum, which is open to all plastic surgery residents in the United States and Canada who are actively engaged in an accredited training program. The publication will continue to highlight news, career tips, upcoming events and other information pertinent to plastic surgery residents across the country.

Citing easier accessibility for younger plastic surgeons as a primary reason for the switch, the Plastic Surgery News Editorial Board in 2019 opted to move Resident to an online-only platform. Resident will now be published exclusively online and will remain a quarterly publication, with a printed annual bonus issue distributed at Plastic Surgery The Meeting, the Society's annual scientific meeting.

"Plastic Surgery Resident continues to provide must-read content written by – and for – residents throughout the United States," says Sanjay Naran, MD, the magazine's chief medical editor. "From digging into topics such as wellness, financial well-being and early career advice to insights on various procedures and important journal recommendations, the magazine is a go-to resource for young plastic surgeons. The move online will deliver all this content to the user's fingertips immediately."

Resident content can be accessed via the Publications menu at plasticsurgery.org.
