FEDERAL | TerKonda Elected to Federation of State Medical Boards
Sarvam TerKonda, MD, was elected to the Federation of State Medical Boards' (FSMB) Board of Directors for a three-year term. The FSMB plays a crucial role in advancing federal and state policies that affect the health and safety of patients, as well as the medical regulatory system.
ASPS engaged the FSMB in 2018 as the Federation released a draft position paper on physician compounding. The Society submitted comments to the FSMB regarding the physician-pharmacist relationship, non-sterile preparations, and the U.S. Pharmacopeia National Formulary. Throughout the Society's engagement on this issue, Dr. TerKonda provided constructive feedback about the issue and the Federation's review processes.
The FSMB represents 70 medical and osteopathic regulatory boards within the United States, its territories, and Washington, D.C. It supports its member boards as they fulfill their mandate to protect the public's health, safety, and welfare through the proper licensing, discipling, and regulation of physicians, and, in most jurisdictions, other healthcare professionals.
Dr. TerKonda has been involved with the FSMB since 2013, and most recently served as a delegate to the FSMB and sat on the Federation's ethics committee. It is through this participation and commitment that he earned the support of FSMB members and a seat on the organization's Board of Directors. ASPS congratulates Dr. TerKonda on his election to this important body and his commitment to represent plastic surgeons and all physicians nationwide.
